Features

A messenger that respects your attention

Everything you expect from a messenger — without feeds, ads or noise.

The Brama chat list on a phone, with the bottom navigation barA direct chat in Brama on a phone
  • Chats and groups of up to 200

Replies, reactions, mentions, comment threads and polls. Group owners decide who can do what, and slow mode keeps busy chats calm.

  • Photos, videos and files

Albums of up to 10 photos and videos, and files up to 100 MB in original quality. EXIF data and location are stripped from photos before encryption.

  • Voice and video messages

Voice messages up to 15 minutes and round video messages up to 60 seconds, encrypted right on your device.

  • Notes and reminders

Save messages to your notes, set reminders and send later: at a time you pick, or as soon as the other person comes online.

  • Your own stickers

Make packs from any picture or a photo from a chat, up to 40 stickers each. Like someone’s sticker? Add the whole pack with one tap.

  • Friends and privacy

You decide who sees when you’re online, who can message you first, add you to groups or send you friend requests.

  • Themes and accents

Light, dark or system theme, 8 accent colors, your own message style and text size.

  • Search

Find chats, people and message text. Message search runs on your device, over messages it has already decrypted.

Security

Only you and the people you write to can read your messages

Messages, files, reactions, polls, group names and notes are encrypted on your devices. The server stores only ciphertext and cannot read it.

  • Keys are created on your devices

Account keys are generated in your browser, and every chat has its own key. Without them, the server sees only random bytes.

  • Every message is signed

Authors sign every message and recipients verify the signature, so nobody can forge a message in someone else’s name.

  • New devices need your approval

Signing in isn’t the same as opening your chats. A new device gets your keys only through a QR code from a trusted device or with your recovery key.

  • No passwords at all

Sign in with a passkey — fingerprint, face or PIN — or a one-time code from your email. Passkeys are bound to brama.club, so a phishing site can’t use them.

  • Alerts for every change

A new sign-in, a new device or a change to how you sign in triggers an in-app alert, a push notification and an email.

  • No link previews

The server never opens links from your chats, and photo metadata is removed before encryption.

What the server can see

An honest look at the limits: no messenger can deliver messages without some metadata.

  • your friends list, group members, read receipts and online status

Can’t see

  • reactions, poll votes, group names and descriptions
  • your notes and sticker packs

How to join

Two ways into Brama

Brama is invite-only for now — it keeps bots and spam out. Claim the key of the day here or ask a friend for an invite code.

Key of the day

Every day at 12:00 Kyiv time, one sign-up key opens up. First come, first served.

  • A claimed key is valid for 1 hour.
  • If it goes unused, the key opens up again.
  • One key per network per day.

Checking the key of the day…

Invite code from a friend

People on Brama can create invite codes for their friends. Ask someone who’s already here for one.

  • A code is valid for up to 3 days.
  • One code works for up to 50 people.
  • An invite link opens sign-up with the code already filled in.

Codes look like this:BRM-XXXX-XXXX

Signing up takes three steps

  1. Get a key or a code

The key of the day on this page, or an invite code from a friend.

  2. Create your profile

A name, a @username and a way to sign in: a passkey or email. No phone number needed. You must be 16 or older.

  3. Save your recovery key

32 characters, shown only once. It opens your chats on a new device, even if the old one is lost.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

The short answers. The full details are in the documents at the bottom of the page.

Is Brama free?

Yes. Brama has no ads, and we don’t sell your data.

Do I need a phone number?

No. You sign up with a passkey or an email address. If you use a passkey, email is optional.

Can Brama read my messages?

No. Messages, files, reactions, polls, group names and notes are encrypted on your devices, and only chat members have the keys. Moderators see messages only if a participant chooses to include them in a report.

What does Brama know about me?

Metadata: who writes to whom, in which chat and when. Also your profile (name, @username, bio, photo), your friends list and the groups you’re in. We use your email only for sign-in codes and security notices, and we don’t store IP addresses in our database. The full list is in our Privacy Policy.

Which devices does Brama work on?

Any modern browser on desktop or phone. You can install Brama as an app (PWA) on your phone’s home screen or your computer. There are no native iOS, Android or desktop apps yet. On iPhone, push notifications work once you add Brama to the Home Screen.

How do I get an invite?

Ask a friend who already uses Brama for a code, or claim the key of the day on this page — a new one opens every day at 12:00 Kyiv time.

What if I lose my phone?

Sign in on another device and open your chats with your recovery key, or approve the new device with a QR code from another device of yours. You can sign the lost device out in Settings → Security. Without a recovery key or a trusted device, nobody can restore your history — not even us; you can only start over with new keys after 3 days.

Is there an age limit?

Yes. Brama is for people aged 16 and over, and you confirm this when you sign up.

Which languages is Brama available in?

English and Ukrainian. You can switch the language in settings at any time.

Can I make calls?

Not yet: Brama has no voice or video calls. It does have voice messages up to 15 minutes and round video messages up to 60 seconds.
